"Tommy "Hurricane" Jackson took another beating Thursday night. But he rallied in the final round to gain a TKO victory over Howard King of Reno, Nev., in a heavyweight bout. King pasted Jackson liberally with hard left jabs through the first nine rounds. But in the 10th, the Far Rockaway, NY, fighter caught King with a left hook and a right cross. King went down, got up at the count of nine, fell down again. Referee Jim Nally stopped the fight at 1:45. In the 5th and 8th rounds, referee Nally stepped in to give Jackson a rest, claiming each time the New Yorker had been fouled." -Associated Press
- This was Jackson's second fight in Boise, one of the few places he could get licensed after the NBA banned him from boxing on medical grounds.
