Tommy Loughran 189 lbs lost to Ernie Schaaf 200 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

  • Date: 1930-06-11
  • Location: Sesquicentennial Stadium, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
  • Referee: Frank Floyd

"Outpointed as probably he never had been before, Tommy Loughran lost a unanimous decision before the busy fists of Ernie Schaaf. Seldom has a boxer carried more wounds from a ring than Loughran. he was cut in the middle of the forehead, over the left temple and under both eyes. In addition he bled from a split lower lip and from the nose. Schaaf suffered only one wound, a short deep gash under the right eye. Otherwise he was unmarked, although his nose was reddened by Tommy's deft left-jabbing. There was one knockdown. It came in the 1st round, when Loughran went to the floor for the count of four under a hard left hook to the chin. Although there was no doubt about the decision, the fight was one-sided in only one round, the 10th, when Loughran's jab failed to hold Ernie off and the Boston youth lashed across rights and lefts that had the Phiadelphian virtually out on his feet." -Associated Press
