"Stanley Poreda of Jersey City strengthened his claim for a chance at the heavyweight championship by pounding out an easy 10 round decision over Tommy Loughran. Poreda, who defeated Primo Carnera and Ernie Schaaf, took at least eight rounds, giving the 'old master' an even break in two of them. The award was received favorably by the 9,000 spectators despite the fact that Philadelphia is Loughran's hometown. Loughran was badly used up when the final bell clanged. He was bleeding from a split lip, a cut on his right cheek and a cut on his nose. His left ear was badly swollen and he turned an ankle. Poreda was virtually unmarked." -United Press
- Referee Jack Dempsey found it unnecessary to cast a ballot on the decision as the judges were unanimous in favor of Poreda.
