Tommy Martin (nicknamed "The English Bomber" and "Briton's Brown Bomber") later joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) and Merchant Marines, according to his grand-daughter Judy in 2025.

He had an eye injury and recovered at some point in Canada, and then ended up in New York City in 1945 where he met his future wife.

After his boxing career ended, he moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands where he worked as a prison guard.

Martin was profiled in the January 1941 issue of The Ring magazine: pages 5 and 43.
