Name: Tommy O'Brien
Hometown: Portland, Oregon, USA
Pro Boxer: Record

  • This Tommy O'Brien was a member of the Multnomah Club, Portland. He is to be distinquished from the more famous Tommy O'Brien.
  • He was also the former Pacific Coast Amateur Bantamweight Champion. He was highly regarded as he turned pro. He was in fact scheduled to face Pancho Villa in Portland in just his second pro bout in July 1925, before Villa came down with the tooth infection that took his life.
  • He was not highly successful as a pro, perhaps due to the fact that his mauling style did not work well in the professional game, and that he was easy to hit. After his career, he worked as a trainer at the Multnomah Athletic Club, and was still training boxers there in the mid-1940s
  • Younger brother of fellow boxer Danny O'Brien
