Tommy Teague 254072
Name: Tommy Teague
Hometown: Brooklyn, New York, USA
Pro Boxer: Record
According to the Norwich Bulletin for June 6, 1911, pg. 3, under the heading "Abe boxed Navy Champion," Tommy Teague had been a Navy welterweight champion and had served on the USS Michigan at the time of his fight with Abe Hollandersky. (By 1913 he still claimed the US Navy middleweight title. [1])
Assuming this was the same Tommy Teague, he was a rather accomplished boxer to have fought Al McCoy, on April 3, 1914, only four days before McCoy took the World Middleweight title in Brooklyn on April 7, 1914 from George Chip in a first round knockout. His victory over the Zulu Kid on March 14, 1914, also indicates Teague was a rather accomplished Middleweight.
Teague was scheduled to fight Walter Monagham of Pittsburgh in a ten round bout in the Royal Athletic Club in Pittsburgh under the headline "Tommy Teague to Meet Walther Monagham" in the San Francisco Call for July 7, 1912, pg. 55. The article also noted Teague was a Champion Navy boxer, and from the USS Michigan.
Teague should not be confused with Tommy Teague of Muncie, Indiana, a noteworthy lightweight boxer from around 1920 who was still fighting featherweights and bantams at the time.
