Jackie Schweitzer was knocked out in the third round by Tony Caragliano at the Lenox sporting Club after a courageous stand against the hard-hitting Italian. The little East sider, Schweitzer, was floored four times, three of the knockdowns coming in the first round.
Caragliano's left hooks to the stomach caused Schweitzer's downfall. They were hard, sure blows and they landed under the heart with all the force at Caragliano's command behind them.
Caragliano was constantly plugging in and although he couldn't do much in the first part of the third, he accomplished the knockout in 2 minutes and 31 seconds. Caragliano was having the best of the going, but Schweitzer was not being hit so often. They were in close when Tony sent in a short, vicious left hook direct to the pit of the stomach and Jackie fell flat on his face. He was completely out and had to be carried to his corner and later helped out of the ring.
