"Lightweight champion Jimmy Carter and Boston welterweight contender Tony DeMarco battled to a furious 10 round draw Friday night in a non-title bout that lured 12,163 fight fans to Boston Garden. Carter, 31, NY, had his work cut out for him against the rugged 23 year old Bostonian. Carter stung Tony with a wicked right uppercut in the 9th round - the champion's biggest session - and had him in a bit of trouble, but couldn't put him down. DeMarco, who gave away height, reach and ring savvy but had nearly a five pound pull in the weights, came up with a furious finish to take the final round.
