In a wild slugging duel with leather flying with leather flying every direction, Houston's Punchin' Paul Altman regained the Texas middleweight crown from Tony Elizondo of Corpus Christi with a knockout in the second round.

The slug fest marked the first defeat for Elizondo in 18 starts and was particularly sweet revenge for Altman who dropped his title to the Corpus Christi pride in San Antonio three weeks ago.

Elizondo carried the fight to Altman in the first round and pushed the Houston man against the ropes to connect with wholesome wallops. However, before the first stanza had ended Altman had floored Elizondo for a count of nine.

Altman took charge early in the second round and twice downed Tony for the nine count. On his third down of the round, Elizondo remained on the canvas.
