Tony Pellone 144 lbs lost to Tony Janiro 147 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

Scoring: 5-4-1, 5-4-1, 6-4

"Baby-faced Tony Janiro, 20-year-old welterweight contender, took a step forward in his campaign for a title shot by winning a unanimous 10-round decision over Tough Tony Pellone at MSG last night. Janiro, of Youngstown, Ohio, lived up to expectations by beating Pellone by a small but decisive margin. Janiro's boxing skill at close quarters and his surprising stamina brought about 22-year-old Pellone's defeat. Pellone's rushing, hooking attack gave him the advantage at long-range; but his unfortunate habit of falling into clinches with Janiro led to his undoing. Pellone suffered a slightly cut left brow in the 4th and Janiro's nose began to bleed freely in the 8th. There were no knockdowns." -United Press
