"Tony Licata avoided close contact with Art Hernandez for seven rounds Tuesday night, then pounded him to the floor in the 8th round for a TKO. Licata, 162, from New Orleans, decked Hernandez, 172 1/2, from Des Moines, Iowa, with a right hand counter-punch after Art backed him against the ropes early in the 8th. Referee Pete Giarrusso stopped the fight when Hernandez went down the second time before the end of the round. The fight had been slow and uneventful for the first seven rounds, with Licata cautiously staying away from Hernandez." -United Press International
