"U.S. middleweight champion Tony Licata gave up the first two rounds in a slow start Wednesday night, then came on to punch out a unanimous 10 round decision over Mike Nixon of Los Angeles. Nixon opened quickly and appeared to win the first two rounds with crisp counter-punching. However, Nixon didn't have enough punch to keep Licata at bay for long. Licata took control and had Nixon bleeding from the nose by the end of the 3rd round." -Associated Press
