This was a dull fight marred by clinching, most of which was initiated by Olivera. Pancho effectively dodged many of Olivera's head shots, though Olivera was able to do some bodywork, which began to wear down Pancho in the 9th round. Pancho for his part through more punches, mostly to the head, though with little power.
In the 8th, Pancho had landed a right hand to the body, which prompted Olivera to briefly take a knee. However, the knockdown was ruled a slip.
