IN 1931 Scarpati won the New York Daily News Golden Gloves' open championship at featherweight vs. Johnny Bonito, he was stopped in the second round by Don Gonzales for the Intercity Golden Gloves' featherweight championship and won the National AAU at featherweight. Scarpati died of cerebral hemorrhage sustained in his 1936 bout versus Lou Ambers.
