Toon Schuurmans beat Rolf Jacobsen by TKO in round 4 of 6

    • It was a case of overmatching when the Norwegian Rolf Jacobsen was thrown in with the 10 fights Dutchman Toon Schuurmans in his pro debut. Schuurmanns had a good draw bout with the Dane Christian Christensen last year in Oslo. Jacobsen was totaly outboxed and Schuurmanns showed mercy in the 4th by not knocking the defenceless newcomer out. Schuurmanns just jabbed and looked at the referee who stopped it.

    Jacobsen never fought again. As amateur he was very promising. He came from the northern town Vardoe by the Sovjet border and had difficulties in getting fight experience because of travelling expenses. At the National Championships for Juniors in Oslo 1955, he was a sensation in winning all his bouts by KO.
