- 1939-10-11: The first boxing show in Alabama is staged with decisions of the judges and referee announced from the ring, is held in Birmingham. Baton Rouge State-Times, October 12, 1939.
- 2003-04-02: House Tourism and Travel Committee passes bill to establish an Alabama Boxing Commission to regulate boxing in the state, which the sponsor hopes will help Alabama attract major boxing matches. The bill then goes to the House.
