Lopez pressured throughout, working behind his jab to set up lefts to the head and body. Mamani backpedalled for the majority of the fight, stopping occasionally to let go a combination. Mamani's best moment came in round 2, as Lopez walked into a left hook and went to the canvas. Lopez got extra time to recover from the knockdown when he spat out his mouthpiece. No point was deducted. The action continued to be competitive in the early rounds, but Lopez began to take control of the bout by round 5 en route to the decision win.
