Mr. Britt. Thanks for your contribution to Jimmy's page. Do you have documentation of other bouts that we do not have in his BoxRec Fight record? Do you have a scanned photo of him in his later years we could add to his Wiki page? Does anyone have his scrapbooks? --Ric 22:07, 30 Mar 2006 (CST) Ric, I have my dad's scrapbooks, what is left of them. I also have your record and one that a friend wrote up for him. I'll be looking and matching what newspaper articles I have as well as some quotes about the fights. I do have some other photos of Dad later in his life and plan to add those to the page.
Jimmy Britt Scrapbooks etc.

It's best to have only two (three at the very most) images on a page of this length. Longer pages allow for more images. What you can do with extra images is to link to them, as I did with the full-length pose of Jimmy that came from a newspaper. Also, consider making a copy of any image and re-name in accordance with our naming convention. So, instead of "Dad25.jpg" consider "Britt.Jimmy25" --Ric 20:19, 31 Mar 2006 (CST)
Ric, thanks for the advice. BTW how did you come upon the newspaper clipping and his record. Jim
I live in the Seattle area, and have been researching Pacific Northwest newspapers for some seven years or so now. The University of Washington Suzzallo Library has a nice collection of microfilm of newspapers from throughout the world. Plus I have researched the Tacoma and Everett papers from about 1906 to 1950. I also went to the Bellingham Public Library two or three times to research Freddie Steele's early fights, and came across his fights with Jimmy. All this time I have tried to jot down factoids as I come across them, such as I did for Jimmy, and print out newspaper photos. Fellow Seattle-area boxing historian Matt Tegen (a fellow Wiki Administrator here) and I continue to research primarily Northwest and West Coast boxing. --Ric 13:04, 1 Apr 2006 (CST)
Recent (April 2006) Images
Great contributions! --Ric 00:36, 6 Apr 2006 (CDT)
I've added his height. And put that he was a right-handed fighter. I moved him up a weight class, from lightweight to welter, as it seems that during the "crux" of his career, he was around the welter weight. --Ric 20:24, 11 Apr 2006 (CDT)
Using Newspaper Text to Create a Fight Page
Jimmy: Here's an example of how you can create a page devoted solely to one fight, based upon primary source material you have--such as those newspaper articles you found in Jimmy's scrapbooks. Example.... --Ric 23:36, 12 Apr 2006 (CDT)
fight article
Ric... very cool. That's great. Now is that linked to Jimmy's page? I'll have to look.
fight article
Ric, how do I make that page a part of the site (or Jimmy's info) thanks Jim
It already is a part of this site; just do a search for Jimmy Britt or Freddie Steele (Dan Walton or Metcalf, etc.). I'll try something else, too--making a mention in Britt's site.
Britt's Last Two Bouts
Matt entered those bouts. For the Max Young bout, the newspaper report said Britt was from Tacoma, and for the second bout it said he was from Salt Lake City. Matt can fill you in on the other details. --Ric 11:02, 13 December 2006 (CST)
