Bartolo Soni (of Jewish or Arab ancestry) born in the Dominican Republic on June 14, 1939. Height: 6ft, mt 1,83.

It is remembered that in his second fight against Henry Willitsch on September 12, 1959, in the third round, Willitsch threw a haymaker that missed, but with such ferocity that he went flying through the ropes, striking his head on the ring apron and knocking himself out.
Other of his opponents, Lamar Clark, had set a record for most consecutive knockouts winning 44 straight fights by KO, but that knockout streak came to a halt in his national television debut when he was knocked out by Soni on April 8, 1960.
Soni was named as Dominican heavyweight champion in 1962, when he was already retired.
