Jimmy Dupree 174 lbs lost to Vicente Rondon 175 lbs by KO at 2:58 in round 6 of 15

"Early last week, Vicente Rondon predicted that Saturday night's light heavyweight championship bout against Jimmy Dupree of Jersey City, N.J., wouldn't go more than six rounds. Rondon's prediction came true, with two seconds to spare. The Venezuelan knocked out Dupree at 2:58 of the 6th round and captured the vacant WBA light heavyweight crown. Rondon's prediction of a short fight almost backfired on him. Dupree took command at the start and dropped Rondon for a count of three in the 2nd round. Rondon, totally groggy, was saved by the bell. In the 6th round, Rondon landed a solid left to Dupree's face and Dupree tried desperately to clinch. But Rondon kept his distance and landed a right, a left and another right. Dupree staggered away but Rondon landed a succession of uppercuts and hooks. When Dupree collapsed with his back to the ropes, referee Zack Clayton of Philadelphia stopped the fight." -Associated Press
