"Cuban Isaac Logart's manager screamed murder and Virgil Akins talked of a September fight with Vince Martinez after last night's bout at St. Nicholas Arena. Logart, loser of a split decision, said his manager would protest the decision to the NYSAC. Akins, who forced the fighting most of the way, had trouble landing in the early rounds. The clever Logart, quick with his hands and dancing on nimble feet, played a hide-and-seek game. Then Logart would put on an eye-catching spurt that seemed to bewilder Akins, especially when he had to back up. There were no knockdowns in the contest. Logart had a puffed left eye and a cut over the right eye in the last round." -Associated Press
