"Italian-born Vito Antuofermo, now a resident of Brooklyn, NY, Friday won the European junior middleweight championship with a 15 round decision over defending champion Eckhard Dagge of West Germany. A crowd of 7,000 watched in West Berlin's Deutschland Hall. Antuofermo time and again crashed through the German's cover with two-fisted attacks to the head and body. Although Dagge's condition appeared to be stronger, he failed to throw Antuofermo off his stride. In the 3rd round, Antuofermo cut the German's right eye in the course of a vicious exchange. In the 7th round Dagge started bleeding from his right temple." -United Press International
