Notes

  • Bout confirmed on November 27, 2005.[1]
  • Virchis seriously hurt in the fifth.[2]
  • Ukrainian publication Obozrevatel described the fight as "entertaining and unpredictable".[3]
  • According to Ukrainian media, "Sprott looked more preferable in the first two rounds, but Virchis looked fairly in control. Vladimir Virchis worked superbly with his right hand and effectively used his left for attacks. However, Virchis was under fire at the end of the fifth. Sprott's series of attacks were very successful, and after a powerful blow Virchis was forced to clinch. In the 11th round, both boxers hit the floor. Fighters simply took each other down. Nevertheless, both boxers had enough energy for a full twelve-round fight."[4][5]
  • BritishBoxing and FightNews considered the fight a robbery, while Gazeta UA called it a fairly close fight.[6][7][8]
