"Unrated Clarence (Tiger) Floyd upset previously unbeaten Von Clay, the 5th ranking light heavyweight, and then had to borrow train fare home to New York. Floyd stole the show on the co-feature 10-rounder with his stunning upset of the 20 year old Clay. Violating all the fundamentals of boxing, he staggered the 10-1 favorite in at least 4 rounds. Floyd's trainer Victor Valle said Floyd would have put Clay away but for rustiness. -Associated Press
- The co-featured 10-rounder on this card was between Len Matthews and Lahouari Godih.
- Floyd's purse of $750 was attached after this fight with no one admitting who or why. Promoter Herman Taylor staked Floyd, his trainer Victor Valle and cornerman Frank Vone to train fare and a meal before leaving for New York.
