Notes

  • Smichet and Archer traded heavy shots in the first three rounds, with Smichet generally having the upper hand.
  • In round 4, Smichet completely took over and seemed to land at will to Archer's head. Although Archer showed incredible courage and determination in not falling to the canvas, it appeared obvious that the referee should stop the fight in order to safeguard Archer's health. However, referee Bolen never stepped in, nor did Archer's corner throw in the towel, thereby allowing Archer to take a terrible beating.
  • Smichet appeared tired thereafter, but was still landing power shots at an alarming rate. In round 7, referee Bolen finally decided that he'd seen enough and called a halt to the fight.
