- Date: 1966-09-06
- Location: Empire Pool, Wembley, London, United Kingdom
- Referee: Billy Jones
"World flyweight champion Walter McGowan of Scotland won the British and Empire bantamweight title from Liverpool's Alan Rudkin Tuesday night with a close decision over 15 rounds. McGowan, bleeding from a cut from the 5th round, won by brilliant counter-punching against the heavier and more aggressive Rudkin. Referee Billy Jones warned Rudkin twice for using his head in clinches and it was clear that McGowan's cut, though not decisive, was aggravated in the inside work. Another cut opened on McGowan's right eye in the 9th round. Rudkin, himself prone to cuts around the eyes, finished virtually unmarked." -Associated Press
- Unofficial AP scorecard - 7-5-3 McGowan
