Weldon (Tuffy) Wing was from the Albina neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. While fighting on the East Coast in 1922, he was managed by Paddy Mullins -- the manager of Harry Wills. He was managed by Jack O'Neill in 1927.

Wing was known as a defensive boxer who preferred to dance on his toes during the early portion of his career. Around 1925, as he got older, his style switched to that of a puncher who went after his opponents. During the beginning of his career in 1915, Wing was boxing as a 100-pounder. He eventually would fight as a Lightweight when his career ended in the early 1930s.
