Pastrano lands a left against Young.

Willie Pastrano 175 lbs beat Paddy Young 172 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

Pastrano entered the fight ranked third at light heavyweight and Young was ranked fifth.

Pastrano stayed flat-footed during the early rounds, swinging from his heels. A right hand in the opening round, followed by a flurry of lefts and rights, put Young down for a count of nine. Another flurry knocked him down again. The bell halted the count at six.

Young was game and rugged, but he was able to do little except aim for the body.

The Associated Press scored eight rounds for Pastrano, one for Young and one even.

A crowd of 4,500 paid $15,064.

Pastrano had trouble making weight and went to the sweat box twice a few hours before the fight to melt off an extra Z½ pounds.

After the fight, Pastrano said, "I really felt weak. I don't know. Maybe I'll fight heavyweight from now on. I'll see."

Pastrano's trainer, Angelo Dundee, said, "He's a heavyweight right now. It's a crime to make him make weight. He's weak, I tell you."
