"Willie Pastrano gave veteran Rex Layne a lesson in boxing tonight as he won a unanimous decision over the Utah slugger in their 10 round fight. The 20 year old Pastrano from New Orleans blasted the 27 year old Layne repeatedly with jolting left hooks and jabs to the head and jaw. Pastrano opened a cut over Layne's left eye in the 4th round and it bled profusely throughout the remainder of the bout. Layne turned in his best performance in the 5th and 8th rounds. He pinned Pastrano on the ropes several times in those rounds and connected with short, jolting blows to the body. However, at no time did Pastrano seem to be in trouble and he came out of the fight unscratched." -United Press
