  • Norwegian heavy prospect Bjarne Lingaas' future was at stake when he was tossed in with the seasoned and hard punching Wim Snoek of Netherlands. Lingaas at 32 danced around his 6 year older opponent and spidded his face with jabs and right crosses. Snoek couldn't get close to the Norwegian and his blows often hit below the belt. He was reprimanded and warned. At the end of the 4th an uppercut to the body hit very low and Lingaas went down in pain. Referee Kjell Svensson of Norway counted him out and promptly disqualified Snoek.

The seasoned writer in the Oslo newspaper Verdens Gang, Jacob Rolsdorph, thought that this fight resembled Snoek's bout with the Swede Lennart Risberg the year before. Snoek had become old and slow, could never get close to lanky opponents and his body blows landed very low.
