Rudell Stitch Defeats Yama Bahama In Ten Round Welter Battle
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP)—Louisville welterweight Rudell Stitch decisioned Yama Bahama in a 10-round bout Wednesday night.
It was the 16th victory for Stitch, who has lost four.
Bahama weighed In at 150, Stitch 145¾ for the nationally televised (ABC) fight.
The loss was the ninth for the West Indies fighter, who has 51 wins and two draws.
Bahama suffered a deep cut over his left eye In the sixth round. There were no knockdowns.
A crowd of 4,000 saw Stitch, a comparative newcomer In the fight game, score a surprise victory. He made a lot of wild swings, but rocked the veteran Bahama when he connected. This was especially true In the sixth round when Stitch had Bahama In trouble In a corner.
Bahama got out of that jam and landed several solid punches in the eighth round when Stitch slipped to the canvas. It was not ruled a knockdown. [1]
