White outpointed Despaigne with a consistent jab and body attack, winning at least four or five of the six rounds as the busier fighter. Despaigne backed up and often had his hands down in the later rounds as he tired, not throwing punches often enough to win the later rounds he needed. White had a height and reach advantage and used it effectively.
