His obituary lists him as born on March 28 1913 which would make him about 12 years old at the time of his earliest listed fight. Census data of 1920 and 1935, however, point to an earlier date of birth, listing him as resp. 10 and 24 at the time. In fact, his 1940 draft registration card lists him as having been born on March 28 1911.
