Fox drew blood from Firpo's nose in the 1st. In the 2nd, Firpo slipped to the canvas, while he was there, Fox hit Firpo with a punch; costing Fox the round. Firpo was knocked down twice in the 3rd, but got up and drew blood from Fox's nose. In the 4th, Firpo was down again for a nine count, but again he rallied to make the round close. Firpo had a slight edge in the next two rounds. In the seventh Fox swarmed all over Firpo and put him down for a fourth time. In the 8th, Firpo wrestled Fox to the canvas. In the 10th, Firpo was dropped again during an exchange. After he got up, he was put down again. Firpo got up this time by grabbing Fox by the legs and pulling himself up. Firpo was then knocked down for the third time in the round and seventh time in the fight. As he took a knee, Fox nailed him with a punch. Firpo told referee Don Fraser that he was unable to continue, and he was awarded the bout on a foul.
