Young Veeran was born on 2nd October 1917 in Durban, South Africa. His actual name is Veeran A Naidoo, whilst his boxing aliases were Young Veeran and Dali Veeran.
Young Veeran retired undefeated with the South African Bantamweight Title which he obtained from Michael Twala on 20th December 1948 by knocking Twala 'through the ropes'. He also fought and defeated Kid Sathamony to attain the South African Lightweight Title as well as the South African Welterweight Title which he retained until retirement.
Records shown on BoxRec supposedly are incorrect and incomplete. A first hand account from Veeran as well as other boxing professionals and fans at the time show that Veeran defeated Alby Tissong during an elimination round to the Michael Twala fight. Tissong did not beat Veeran as stated in the BoxRec records.
Due to World War II, boxing was banned for a few years. Veeran retired undefeated.
Veeran is still well and living in Durban, South Africa. He has 6 children, numerous grandchildren as well as great-grandchildren. As of Sunday, 2nd October 2005, he is 88 years 'Young'.
