Zab Judah 144 lbs beat Ernest Johnson 144 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

Aired on: HBO Pay-Per-View

In a nationally televised bout, ex-Welterweight champion Zab Judah (37-6, 25 kayos) of Brooklyn, New York, now fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada, won a unanimous decision over challenger Ernest Johnson (18-3-1, 7 kayos) of Chula Vista, California. Judah used left-right jab combinations to apparently win every round. However, a huge cut above the left eye of Judah from an accidental butt left open the possibility of going to the scorecards by referee Steve Smoger early, but the Judah corner did an excellent job of keeping the cut under control so it was not a factor in the bout. For his part, Johnson was competitive, appeared in excellent condition, and had an excellent defense, but he could not match Judah's output in punches thrown and punches landed, which were considerable, so the outcome of the bout was never in doubt.
