"Zora Folley, with an easy win over newcomer Garvin Sawyer to his credit, today was talking again about a heavyweight title fight with champion Floyd Patterson. Folley had experience, record and ranking on his side last night at the Capitol Arena against Sawyer. The fight showed it. Folley was hardly winded in controlling the 10 rounder all the way and winning a unanimous decision. Sawyer was dropped in the 8th and 9th rounds and only gameness and the bell saved him from a knockout in the 9th." -Associated Press
- Unofficial AP scorecard - 100-77 Folley
