"Heavyweight Johnny Summerlin today made plans to return to his hometown of Detroit after defeating the three top heavies in California and Arizona in successive fights. Summerlin, weighing a trim 195, handed Zora Folley, of Chandler, Ariz., his first defeat in 20 pro bouts last night with a stunning 6th round TKO at the Olympic Auditorium. Summerlin earlier knocked out Charlie Powell and decisioned state champ Young Jack Johnson. Folley, 188, was sent crashing to the canvas in the 1st round with an overhand right for a nine-count. He rallied to win the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds, but in the 6th Summerlin caught him with a wicked left." -United Press
