"Aging Zora Folley spoiled Roger Russell's 21st birthday celebration last night by coming on strong in the closing rounds to earn a draw in their 10 round heavyweight bout at the Arena. Russell, 189, a young Philadelphia fighter who gave away 23 pounds to his 35 year old opponent from Chandler, Ariz., piled up points in the early rounds. Russell forced the fight with combinations to Folley's body and had him in trouble with a right cross that drew blood from the nose of the former heavyweight contender. In later rounds Folley used his experience to throw short rights to Russell's head and connected with rights and lefts to the head that sent Russell backing away. In the 9th round, Folley scored with two hard rights to the head to even the fight. Neither fighter could get off a good punch in the 10th round." -United Press International
- Unofficial AP (UPI did not post a score) scorecard - 47-45 Folley
