Re: Boxing telecast help

Hello, I am trying to confirm correct weights for title fights that took place in countries where the weigh in was done in kilos and grams. One of the issues is that a lot of weights are entered by US or British editors in lbs and the listed weights are the result of bad conversions from the kilos ...

I have a few of the fights, but the only weight I can find is Said Skouma 69,5 Kg. against Mike Mccallum.
Great fight by the way.

Woller
Thank you very much Woller. And even that weight is different from what was on BoxRec so I changed it. I have been researching these for a long time.

I don’t do the pound for pound ratings. Other people have updated that in different years. I’ll try and list the P4P this year now that you mention it.

I have entered the yearly ratings for the last 15 years but I don’t know how to update the decade ring ratings or by division. That’s probably why it isn’t up to date because whoever did them before didn’t update it.

My personal #2 would have been Saad Muhammad-Johnson II that year.

Re: Ring Magazine FOY Runner-Ups 1945-2000

The 70's had a bad habit of giving out the award for fights based solely on prestige, and having almost nothing to do with the action in the bout. Ali vs Frazer 2 as the runner up for 1974? Give me a f*cking break. That’s a good point on the 70s. Ali-Frazier 2 really surprised me. I didn’t get to s...

Ring Magazine FOY Runner-Ups 1945-2000

So while the Ring Magazine Fight of the Year selections always get the most attention, I am curious about what fights were #2. Those fights are great too and not remembered as fondly. I am trying to find this information from 1945-2000 from Ring Magazine as Ring Magazine hasn’t been the same in this...

Re: MARVIN HAGLER-WILLIE MONROE III bout length

You are correct. It was announced as such and I have made the change. I had a question: Since you are converting classic bouts, do you have Eckhard Dagge-Emile Griffith? I am trying to get reach information on Dagge and I was hoping the telecast might have it.

Re: Hungary's great Laszlo Papp. What could?

I think, at the time, with all-time greats such as Joey Giardello, Dick Tiger, and Niño Benvenuti with the middleweight title in the mid-60s, it would have been very difficult for Papp to win the middleweight title. He was very short for a middleweight and had a small reach. He relied on infighting ...

Re: Man, this place seems dead.

I am one of the main editors that used Il Duce's information to add to the database and I am embarrassed about it. I have been contributing to the records and research of old boxers for years and I ignored several attempts by other researchers to remove Il Duce-contributed records, because I trusted...

Re: What do I have to do to get changes made?

Hey. I've been posting changes and fixes to certain cards that took place in Mexico that I've come across as I've been cataloging my DVD collection. What do you need me to do in order to get these changes reflected? Do I have to upload video of bouts? Certain fights where there was already video, I...

Re: Floyd Mayweather's legacy? -------

I think Floyd is great and I don't mean to denigrate that. But I think he is a product of an era of boxing with less schooling and technique while he has that schooling and technique. As he says, Skills pays the bills, and skill wise he is far advanced in this generation. However, I think that in co...

Re: Prime Sugar Ray Robinson vs. a prime Marvin Hagler? -------

Too many people think of the middleweight Robinson as the post 1955 comeback Robinson, who had the epic wars with Fullmer and Basilio. While Robinson's peak was at 147, the peak middle Robbie of 1950-52 was one of the top 5 middleweights of all time. I'd favor that Robinson over Hagler and Hopkins....
