Maybe he could do better, but that's the way he's fought every fight since looking utterly sensational against Ray Olivera: The same, straight line, single shot tactics.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I can understand where Ricky is coming from. He basically fought a poor fight, and seemed to get too keyed up in there. He didn't follow his corner's instructions, and did seem to fall apart following the point deduction, basically just trying to knock Mayweather's head off, and ultimately leaving himself wide open for that left hook.
I thought Hatton was winning at the halfway stage, though it was close.
I don't think he will win a rematch, but even so, I think he can do better.
Hatton needs to have a big win before taking mayweather on again though, both for confidence, and to convince people there's any point in it.
He looked excellent against Castillo, I suppose; but 4 rounds against a man who looks to have very little left in the tank isn't exactly the best way of illustrating that he can go 12 rounds bashing at that on-the-balls-of-his-feet, high octane, fluid, combination punching rhythm he could strike 4 years ago.
I really believe that his Mayweather tactics were simply Hatton's 'par' level now, and we're deluding ourselves to think he can rediscover that old Tackie-Phillips-Olivera style.
