This shows Arthur's level. If he's having problems with Stephen Foster he's not going to fair to well against the big biy's in the division. Fwank won't let him anywhere near those guy's though, so I guess he doesn't have to worry about it.
Yeah very good fight. Plenty of drama. I had Arthur by a round.
But I fear for Arthur if he gets a matchup against any of the elite in this division - he'll get decapitated IMO. Just hasn't got enough snap or sharpness in his punches and his footwork is too slow.
I have to admit i wasnt happy when the fight was made, looked like a mismatch. It was obvious Foster was well up for it and was better than i've ever seen him. I suppose we can give Arthur the benefit of the doubt, you could understand if he's looking ahead to the likes of Guzman, but he needs to improve from that performance to stand any kind of chance

Can't see past the Johanneson vs. Mitchell fight, finding it hard to pick a winner, leaning towards Mitchell. But the winner would be a worthy challenger to Arthur. More so than Foster.

Absolutely right. This fight made a mockery of AA's claims to be a 'player' at world level. The Gomez fight showed he couldn't defend against a left hook, and now Foster's come along and couldn't miss AA with the right hand.
I'm afraid AA is anything but amazing...
Mitchell Johanneson - do you think Mitchell can take Johanneson's left hook?
I think Mitchells chin is an unknown quantity, trying to think if he's really been tested, and can't think of any examples so it remains to be seen. The only reason I'm leaning towards Mitchell is due to Carl and his slow starts and feel Mitchell might blitz him early.
I saw the 1st 6 rds of Arthur-Foster Jr. I thought Foster was going to win. He put in a good showing for what I saw but did seem to be losing steam. I cheered every time he let loose that right hand and left hook on Arthur's amateurishly unprotected head.
It looked like a terrific scrap but nowhere near world class. Arthur can swig his cup of tea and look at the WBO belt, but he's only half of a champ and that's as good as nothing because there are 4 champs in each division and less than a handful of pounds seperating each of the feather/lightweight classes.
Props to Setanta for clarifying the situation for all those Sun/NOTW readers who believe in Frank and his bully boys.
It's crazy that Arthur and Lockett are close to being "champions." Let's face it, we like Frank for bringing Tszyu and Kessler over, but we don't like this nonsense.

What nonsense?
Phoney champs, mandatories and prentending domestic fighters picking up vacant WBO's/interims are anything else.

You have a problem with mandatories?
"are anything else" - What does that mean?
It was made clear throughout what the title was and what it was worth, so I don't see why people are moaning.
Horse take the bit out from between your teeth and the blinkers off. The real problem is that Guzman may move up a weight and AAA gets the full WBO belt by default. In a division packed with elite guys in the top 4/5 spots Arthur gets to call himself a World Champ without actually fighting anyone in the top ten. Some may say good luck to him - and I have tended to lean that way in the past - but it's a travesty in all honesty.

Sorry poorly phrased, I'm tired. I meant 'phoney or undeserved mandatories'. There is no way Lockett is even close to warranting a shot at pavlik. Warren knows Pavlik has bigger fish to fry and will therefore 'deliver' a vacant WBO shot.
'are anything else' was supposed to mean 'pretending these domestic level fighters are world class'.

That scenario has not happened yet, Arthur may well face Guzman in the next three months. What do you want Arthur to do?
Perhaps he should have faced a World class opponent, but Foster was a good keeping busy opponent.

Fair enough, although I personally wouldn't mind seeing Lockett fight for the vacant title.

Arthur is at least European class so dismissing him as domestic class is a bit out of order.

There see you answered your own question. As for Arthur facing Guzman - I think that scenario is highly unlikely but preferable to the one where he gets the title by default. I guess we need to see how things pan out.

I take it you don't follow British boxing. The nonsense is putting an average, Euro level guy in the world title mix; a delicate way of saying "we're waiting for the real champ to vacate so we can pick up a stray belt and play world champion."
Lockett and Arthur have no business fighting for "world titles."

Setanta put Warren on the spot, and he pretty much admitted he's waiting for Guzman to move up to lightweight. The funny thing is that they've waited so long to make a move, that Arthur has nearly as much trouble making 130 as Guzman.
Great fight, real on the edge of your seat stuff - One of the best of the year - Arthur is struggling to make the weight, which accounts for his performance not being what it should be - Having said that I have to make two points, one is Foster Jnr fought the fight of his life - The other is that AA takes too many hits because his defence is poor - That makes me doubt Arthur can mix it with the best, especially if he moves up - He is without doubt Euro level but at World level, I think he falls short - I wouldnt give him a chance againt Guzman TBH.
The way the fight started I didn't think there was anywat it was going the distance, so i didn't bother scoring it. Wish I had of done now, I had Foster winning the first 3 rounds, couldn't understand it how Richie Woodhall had it 1 round each and one even.
AA done fantastic to get through the fight with a 'W' and Foster enhanced his reputation no end with an excellent performance. As for the AA Vs Pacman/JMM/Guzman I respect his willingness to want the BIG boys, but even before Saturday night (where he was getting cauht with straight right after straight right) the Pacman fight looked an impossible task and I can just see Guzman and JMM outboxing him.
