Anthony Mundine and the WBA title

Post by Mundine »

As we all know, Sven Ottke is the WBA SUPER CHAMPION at 168 and Anthony Mundine is the WBA regualr champion at 168. Under Mundine's victory over Antwun Echols, I think the bit of information explaining the situation with the WBA and the Super Champion should be more consistent and along the lines as the William Joppy-Howard Eastman one.

It should say this:

The WBA Super Middleweight title was vacated when former champ Sven Ottke was declared a "Super" champion.

Instead of saying:

"The WBA Super Middleweight title was vacated when Sven Ottke was upgraded to "Super" Champion status.

I think the inclusion of "Former Champ" is necessary as Ottke was the former WBA champ - but was "Stripped" or was forced to "Vacate" his title (which ever way you want to look at the WBA's new rule) - because of unifying the two belts (WBA & IBF). I also think "was declared a "Super" champion" sounds better and is more accurate then "was upgraded to super champion status"...

I really think this needs to be kept up the top....

And after his fight with Nishizawa (that happened on Monday), Mundine was knocked down in the second, but Nishizawa was knocked down in the fourth and fifth (before being stopped) as well.

Actually it should say that Mundine won one of the many "bogus" belts of the WBA!
