i can only add jim mcdonnells ridiculously courageous performance against azumah nelson. he wasnt in nelsons league but it was bravery beyond the call of duty. KO.
i also am proud to have witnessed chris finnegans world light heavy tilt
against bob foster. again close to crossing the bravery/stupidity line in an epic duel. KO.
Gutsiest Fight Ever?
Regarding the Stander-Wepner question again, I'm in the same boat with Alp. It's hard for me to imagine Wepner had 250 amateur fights. I mean I don't know this is or isn't true, but, if it is, then all that experience prior to turning pro surely didn't teach him much about footwork or punching with leverage or any semblance of defense.
Don't get me wrong, I like him. In fact, he's just the kind of fighter I love to watch fight. Just a tough SOB, if not really all that good. But, for as big as he was, especially in his time, he didn't hit particularly hard. Without looking it up, I believe his ratio of KOs to wins was less than 50 percent.

How about a performance from last year. Paulie Malinaggi was to many people a showboating punk who couldn't punch hard enough to crack an egg. Hardhitting Miguel Cotto was supposed to destroy him, and when he decked Paulie and cut him badly early on, it looked like all the predictions would come true. Paulie proved he was anything but a punk though by withstanding several big shots from Cotto and coming back to make it a fight of it.
Lynch almost stopped Kane in the 1st round. Kane rallied and had some moments, but I don't think he ever looked like he was going to win.
Has to be possibly the biggest fight ever held in Scotland. Kane was 41-0 coming in and known as a big puncher. One of our UK experts may know for sure, but I think Kane was favored to win.
