I think people are discrediting the boxing lesson that Mitchell was giving in the opening 3 rounds. I think the pummelling he took in those rounds, were more damaging than the pummelling he took throughout his career - for this particular contest.steve689 wrote:I agree a fresher Johenneson would have prevailed. Disagree - I actually thought Johanesson performed better in this fight than many others - until that final round he was taking a lot of punches on the gloves and his defence was credible considering the amount of shots Mitchell was throwing.steve689 wrote:I agree a fresher Johenneson would have prevailed. I think Mitchell could have actually won the fight a lot earlier if he had boxed the way he was instructed to do - at stages he looked bloody good - to be honest I thought the fight was very similar to Haye/Thompson - where you saw Haye come out blasting and almost punching himself to a standstill - this in my view almost happened to Mitchell - and I think it is a credit to Mitchell and the corner work that Mitchell dug deep into the reserves by beating a very good operator in Johanesson.
I'd had a few by the time CJ and Mitchell were fighting, and I was half watching, but was the CJ under any more pressure at the time of stoppage that Mitchell in the 6th? Had the ref jumped in would everyone be screaming a farce? Also, how did the knockdown not get counted - shocking.Deserter wrote:jamesmcdonnell wrote:CJ was robbed of a stoppage which was a shame. Why do you say that James?
