You got that nailed on!!!

I fully understand to a point that some brown nosing has to be done by the others to make the fight sound fantastic or the fighter or the promotional firm - but with Claude there is a bit of realism and I like it.

Colin "I watched Ali, don't you know" Hart.

He knows nothing about modern boxing.

He looked pretty uncomfortable during Bunce's rants. What is/was Bunce on? Much more excitable than usual. And his jaw was twitching/grinding like a madman when he wasn't talking. Maybe some kind of reflex reaction to the amount of hot air coming out of his mouth? :o

Hart is seriously outdated and past his sell by date. Whenever SKY use him, usually for "name" value, he always refers back to Ali, Hearns and Leonard etc because he is either not interested or lacks knowledge of the modern game.

Agreed. He offers little value as far as I am concerned.

I have always liked Steve Bunce and think he is absolutely fantastic for boxing - I don't want some posh twat spouting bollocks and who looks good on TV - I want to see someone who knows his boxing and is seriously passionate about the sport - Bunce is top notch.

With all that said - he did need to take a chill pill on Saturday - but thats what the sort of fight Haye/Maccarinelli does to those that really care about the sport.

Have to say each and every time Bunce's ugly side kick    Richie Woodhall is on the box the more professional and comfortable I think he gets in front of the camera.

Absolutely.... I have a new pet hate concerning Buncey..... He likes to end each rant with a joke (maybe thats a cue to say I've stopped talking to Paul Dempsey) and then he smurgs and laughs to himself - while Paul Dempsey is speaking.

It was quite funny when he made some sort of joke, and looked to Abrams for a response and didn't get that - just more like "can this joker please shut up" kind of look.

It actually annoys the life out of me - ITV could sack boxing, Sky are watering down their coverage by the month so we have Setanta come in and what happens - people rip f*ck out of the coverage.

Has anyone thought that it is a plain and simple FACT that the TV people visit these forums - and all we ever do is rip f*ck out of the BBC, ITV Sky and now Setanta who are the next lot to save the sport with regards to it being shown on our screens get the shit ripped out of them.

How about contstructive feed back??

I think we are all being constructive.

We have said (in the past) that Setanta should use more of Dempsey cause he is the best presenter... thats constructive, offering our opinion.

Surely its constructive when we say Bunce annoys us.... cause believe me its not the just the people on here that are saying it. I had loads of friends saying "I wish Maccarinelli was fighting Bunce and not Haye".

As Stu says, we are being constructive. I am pleased and appreciate what Setanta are doing: both with great domestic match-ups and their coverage of the wider international scene - they have some very good presentors/commentators and summarisers.

That said, Bunce is becoming worse each big occasion. He clearly sees himself as the boxing Jeremy Clarkson and thinks his own jokes, rants and skewed opinions are worthy - a simple case of being controversial or taking a reactionary viewpoint for the sake of it.

I don't doubt that he is passionate, but in my opinion, he comes across as a lout. He's worse on the later shows, I suspect he may have some re-fueling issues....

Setanta are bringing great fights. Ppl will subscribe to them due to what they offer. However, their coverage is controversial because it's becoming hard to draw the line between broadcasting and promoting. Frank is clearly using them to promote his fighters. I know this actually helped give us all Haye-Macca. But imagine if Haye had simply gone up to heavy instead. We would hear absolute rubbish on that channel courtesy of the studio home team set of pundits.

Thouhg Sky's content is being watered down, I think their actual coverage can be impeccable. I recall Ian Darke commentating on an Enzo Macca WBU defense. He got it out of his colour man/expert/whoever straight away to say that it wasn't world class stuff, and then Darkie says, "And yet they're calling it a world title fight."

Bu Setanta are spending more money and making more effort on boxing. I think we need a good heavyweight contender/champ (Haye anyone) for Sky to get their arses into gear getting big fights like in the Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis era(s).

Stu,

I am being serious here - Bunce does not give a shit what he takes on here - however what concerns me greatly is that a lot of the TV Execs come on here to read what the fans think - if they don't they certainly get their PR people to do the job for them and print off the comments - that is a plain and simple fact - I have been lambasted in the past by the f*ckers at previous shows for my comments!!!

However the people at the top of these TV companies shall we say diplomatically are sensitive soles at the best of times - they do not give a shit about boxing as long as they are getting positive feedback and decent viewing figures.

The problem with these forums is that people give their "HONEST" points of view - the problem with that is that sometime we are too honest and too straight forward and the next thing we are faced with is boxing being dumped and Henretta and her donkey jumping over fences and some snotty nosed twat commentating on the dressage - or worst still some old granny being made a star because she is good at bowls.

That is my point - lets be positive that boxing is on our screens and a little more clever in the way we deliver our criticisms.

Spud, I don't think a few of us boxing anoraks giving relatively well reasoned viewpoints on Setanta's coverage is going to cause them to withdraw from the sport.

You would be surprised the amount of promoters and TV Execs who print off comments on these forums.

I totally agree it is certainly not the be all and end all of what is said on here - however boxrec and other forums do have a voice and don't kid yourself otherwise.

Claude is the best boxing writer in the world. Claude was an asset to Setanta last saturday night. When talking about fights, Clude doesn't go overboard & always keeps things in perspective. He doesn't bullshit!

I hope he's fit & healthy. I hope Setanta have him back on for future fights. Keep up the good work, Claude!

Setanta must be making some good money from Boxing so we will view it and pay for it - so what if we say this guy irritates and that guy doesn't.

BUSINESS IS BUSINESS - WHEN WE STOP PAYING THEY MAY CARE.

UNTIL THAT DAY, THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THE £S!

As long as Setanta get the money and viewings they will continue.

I would imagine 99% of the first rung of subscribers are still viewing!

The moment the put on shit boxing, I will cancel.

Bunce is fine by me!

Fair points to a degree - I didn't really like it when people criticised Setanta for getting the J C Chavez Jnr bill. Yes, I think there have been better bills that they haven't ordered - but for me the more boxing the better.

However, no-one is saying "oh we will turn off cause Bunce is on air" - although, I know some lay fans who ARE thinking that".

I don't like Holdsworth delivery on Eurosport, but I have stressed its Holdsworth I don't like not their coverage. ... like he is just commenting on the ring card girl again..

Same with Bunce.

I'm sure Setanta are not thinking - oh the fight fans don't like Bunce... lets drop the sport all together. Surely it would be better if the considered dropping the thing we don't like about the coverage.

Okay... here's a constructive point.

Why don't Setanta use more of Richie Woodhall - have Woodhall and Abrams doing the analysis... and let Woodhall run down to join Rawling (who is good also).

McGuigan's ITV contract must be under threat... why not get him back on board.

Or check on the availability of Bob Mee.

Alternative suggestions... which I think would be much better.

I agree with Nick - Bunce potrays passion no doubt, but these days he seems more passionate about himself. A bit like Clarkson. How many times did he say "oh I look better in Shadow" - with regards to his segment promoting the fight.. or comment on Enzo is not like him with his weight gain.

Woodhall has always been very good, level headed and sensible. However, why was he having hangups awarding rounds to Carl Johanesson last Sat?

On second viewing I was having a change of thought for some of the rounds I gave to Carl. Mitchell still threw alot of punches in those rounds, but Johanesson's were more effective.
