Imagine if he beats Diaz on 21st June!!

He is exciting - no doubt about it.

Wold you say he is a Light Welter?

I think Manny is capable of boxing when he wants to. A good example was round 9 of the Marquez fight where it was probably the only round he noticeably boxed to Roach's game plan. Marquez took his foot of the gas a little and Manny controlled the round with a jab and big shots coming off the end of it.

But most of the time I think he prefers to run and gun.

It's a great resume. It looks great on paper. And it ensures he gets in the Hall of Fame. But Marquez was in better shape than Morales and Barrera, and I had him beating Manny twice.

Vazquez did Larios better than Pac did.

that's what I thought. My heart sank when they announced it. I'm gutted for Marquez.

Yes and no :o

Although his walking weight is 144-147, he's not quite big enough for me. I think he'll win at least one title at 135, Diaz hasn't got a great chin and is a bit wild at times.

I'm gonna try and go as I should be working in China in the summer.

So - in other words, he is a LIGHTWEIGHT at best?

Pefect for you know who.

I think he an win a belt at Lightweight - but against someone like Daz he has a better chance, Guzman is the fight i want to see!

Oh me too mate. I'm a big Guzman fan. I had a ticket to see him fight Soto but got salmonella that day.

I dunno if it got shown over here, but it was a very underated performance against a form fighter in Soto.

I think Pacman might even beat Campbell. Nate is the most inconsistent world champion there is.

I had JMM winning the final round and nicking it by a point, but it was a very close fight. I'd like to see them complete the trilogy, because JMM doesn't seem to be able to buy a break

I'd love to see Pacman-Guzman, fascinating clash of styles. I'd fancy Guzman to win a UD, but Manny is an awesome fighter and you can never write him off with his power

Pac didn't win that fight.
that's how i had it.

pac was lucky.

brilliant fight though.

not quite sure how DG can say pac isn't a great fighter after that.

they both showed there greatness tbh.

Great fighter?

A wild crazy man with no jab who is constantly off balance and countered every 2 seconds?

To call him great is an insult to greatness.

YOU DO NOT FOOL ME - HITMAN HATTON1 IS JUST TALKING ABOUT HIM BEING GREAT BECAUSE YOU KNOW RICKY HATTON IS GOING TO CHASE AFTER THE FORMER SUPERFLYWEIGHT, BOTTOM LINE IS HE IS WILD AND STRONG AND SMALL.

JMM won that fight last night.

8-4

:TU:
i'd argue the other way round.

just cos he's being linked with hatton u don't wanna give the man his due.

Dennis the Menace strikes again.

Edward Murphy 'Top of the morning to ya!

You are notorious for scoring fights through your fingers, didn't you have Hatton pitching a shut out against PBF until he was stopped?

I have not seen anything from Pacman other than fast fury and power.

Technique average - balance not good.

He could beat Hatton, but he is a Lightweight at best and he would be beated by Guzman hands down.

The only LIGHTWEIGHT I would accept Hatton fighting is GUZMAN when he gets there, because Guzman would be too much for a limitied slugger like Hatton and Guzman steps into the ring 10st 10 or something like that!

IN OTHER WORDS - GUZMAN WEIGHTS MORE THAN PBF!

And look what skills and speed did to Poopman Hatton.

Back to the thread.

Pacman was very lucky to get that result. He did not win that fight.

No way.

Shut it!

I will read you poosts when it is time for me to sleep - your posts should be used by the Pharmaceutical industry as a cure for insomnia!

:D

Also, ACCEPT it - Pacman is exciting BUT so was Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward 1 2 and 3.

As for Guzman not being able to punch anymore, DIDN'T THEY SAY THE SAME THNG ABOUT PBF before he mashed down Hatton?

Pacman VS Guzman.

ALSO.

We saw JMM vs PACMAN for Free.

Imagine paying to watch Hatton Vs Lazcano!

(and before you start, SETANTA £10.00 and not PPV = £10.00

SKY Sports £35.00 plus £15.00 for the - er...cough cough - fight =£50.00)

ITS THEE FIGHT!

Guzman has said he wants it - but PACMAN will not go for it, imo.

I would PAY £15.00 to watch that!

Problem is Guzman's fights are seldom exciting enough to warrant as superfights. I think he'd outbox Pac on the move and with that defence not take anything really nasty. I know Pac can come out with these sneaky little shots but his weakness could come against a defensice fighter with that kind of speed.

If Pac fought Guzman ppl wouldn't be quite hailing him the legend, as he would have been outboxed by Guzman, twice got the benefit vs Marquez (IMO) and beaten once by Morales.

Marquez is the best fighter to go against Guzman, as he has the brilliant technical ability and surgical array of punches.

Just watched the fight. And thought that Marquez won it. I did a running total of what I thought were clear rounds and gave 10-10 in closer rounds but I found that Marquez’ counterpunching was more effective and significant on the margin.

I say this as a big supporter of the unorthodox southpaw approach of Pacman, that poses so many problems for conventional fighters. Marquez gave little quarter and refused to be backed up against the subdued marauding style that saw Pacman come to prominence, but landed the better shots for me.

I think that Pacman’s southpaw left hand is one of the best I have seen in boxing – it seems to come from a distance, when watching, but still lands after arriving from way out of range. Marquez appears to have a perfect antidote to it - enough speed, power and all round boxing ability to give him pause whilst having as much heart.

Quality fight, quatity fighters. No wonder I have given up with the HWs.

Marquez gave simply one of the best performances by any boxer in years. The heart, skill, getting up from the knockdown, making constant technical adjustments, nailing Pac with perfect body shot and right hand counters...and then to drop a close decision.

All Marquez's big fight blemishes are hotly disputed.

Norwood (could have gone either way if Marquez hadn't been deducted a point),

John (I had John winning - if John was so ineffective vs a subdued Marquez, why was JMM's right eye so busted up? answer, he was eating jabs all night)

Pac 1 (despite 3 KDs, JMM seemed to win the bulk of the rds, which is better than scoring 3 KDs!)

Pac 2 (just seemed to do more, taking the last round big in what appeared an even fight thru 11...)

Sad to see the great Marquez bros losing within a couple of weeks of one another. They had an amazing March 07, Juan Manuel beating Barrera in a classic and Rafael stopping Vazquez with the shots to the nose. They both became two-weight champs in that month. Now JMM is 34 and RM is 31; I hope they can both get more "defining" wins.

I had Marquez a handy winner, he boxed beautifully and the decision was terrible in my opinion. Yet again aggression wins the day, Pacquiao is a quality fighter but just wasn't at the races. His fast sporadic flurries looked heavy and must have seriously influenced two of the judges, especially the idiotic 115-112 scorecard.

Las Vegas agressive scoring is becoming tiresome, Marquez was boxing his head off at times, landing the cleaner shots and i don't recall anyone of recent years loading up and putting so much stock in those bodyshots! The left hand Pacquiao landed was a beauty though but it was a minute point amongst rounds of Marquez's smoother backfoot boxing.

Marquez's jab was class, his right hand landing repeatedly and his left hook started finding a home. He shook Pacquiao at the end of the first and at other points during the fight, that bodyshot really knocked the wind out of the Pacman and i think a younger Marquez would have laid on the pressure and stopped Pacquiao there and then.

Feel sorry for Marquez overall, thought he was a handy points winner and boxed superbly. Judges are too easily swayed by aggression, cuts and crowd noise. It's a shame as pure technicians like Marquez suffer. But after all is said and done, Marquez is a sublime boxer and a joy to watch :TU:

I didn't see the HBO feed but the Top Rank crowd are pitiful. Who was the guy who saw JMM land a solid shot and then proclaimed "He's stopping Manny tonight!" right out of the blue?

They did the old Setanta commentary trick of landing shots for the fighter that missed  :D
