I had Marquez a handy winner, he boxed beautifully and the decision was terrible in my opinion. Yet again aggression wins the day, Pacquiao is a quality fighter but just wasn't at the races. His fast sporadic flurries looked heavy and must have seriously influenced two of the judges, especially the idiotic 115-112 scorecard.
Las Vegas agressive scoring is becoming tiresome, Marquez was boxing his head off at times, landing the cleaner shots and i don't recall anyone of recent years loading up and putting so much stock in those bodyshots! The left hand Pacquiao landed was a beauty though but it was a minute point amongst rounds of Marquez's smoother backfoot boxing.
Marquez's jab was class, his right hand landing repeatedly and his left hook started finding a home. He shook Pacquiao at the end of the first and at other points during the fight, that bodyshot really knocked the wind out of the Pacman and i think a younger Marquez would have laid on the pressure and stopped Pacquiao there and then.
Feel sorry for Marquez overall, thought he was a handy points winner and boxed superbly. Judges are too easily swayed by aggression, cuts and crowd noise. It's a shame as pure technicians like Marquez suffer. But after all is said and done, Marquez is a sublime boxer and a joy to watch
