Were we really spoiled for talent in the Lewis/Hamed era?
The best men on Hamed`s record that he beat were well past their prime when he fought them.
And just when he had everybody watching, he shows we have all been fooled by the hype and looses to the first live fighter,A fighter who prefered the super-bantam division at that.
Lewis I feel was the best out there at the time but he did not get the chance to prove it(not his fault) after the Ruddock fight he could have proved beyond doubt what he could have done, but sadly never got the chance because the big names avoided him until late in their careers.
And people mentioning Amir Khan at this stage, this is years too yearly to tell.
Front page on Boxing news and already the hype goes into overdrive.
Let us not forget he has only just started fighting men and how many other amateurs over the years have done well in the unpaid ranks and failed in the pro`s. When Wayne McCullough won silver in the olympics his team mate won gold, who got to be world champion in the paid ranks and what did the other achieve?
Carl Froch will get steered towards a IBO,WBF or something similar, there he will stay untill a mediocre fighter gets lucky enough to win a real belt, then his people will be do their best to get a fight against this man knowing he will have an even chance..much the same as Calzaghe is doing with Johnson.
I get the impression Haye will go for a real belt regardless, he looks a better prospect of the two.
