Witter targets Hatton

Junior Witter has offered to end the search for a suitable opponent for Ricky Hatton.
Hatton is due to defend his WBU light welterweight title on 12 June, but original foe Sharmba Mitchell could not agree terms with promoter allegedly allegedly.

"Apart from Sharmba Mitchell there is no credible opponent out there for Hatton apart from me," said Witter.

"Maybe Frank knows, as my trainer Brendan Ingle always says, that I would stand Ricky Hatton on his head."

This would be great if it happened but we all know it wont.

The thread maybe old but the scenario hasnt changed, in fact the call to Hatton to face Witter has got stronger and stronger. TBH I think by 2010 Hatton will be gone after another defeat/defeats without facing Witter. The Hatton magic is leaving him IMO and the certainty of him winning has therefore diminished. Another loss and he will definately never face Witter. Hatton when he fought Tyzsu was at his peak and I would go so far as to say that Hatton could have beaten PBF and Witter. The current weight drained Hatton would more than likely lose to Witter and he knows it. Hatton/Witter should have happened after Tyzsu and this arguement would have been over then. As it is Hattons legacy will always remain tarnished. Hatton the man who ducked the best at 140. Mayweather was all about money and if they do get it together at Wembley that will be about getting another fortune.

I am impressed Witter is taking on the Bradly fight - and hopefully after that he will take on another decent Light Welter - then and only then will I jump on the Wagon to say Witter should fight Hatton.

I honestly see why Hatton doesn't fight Witter - he doesn't need to at this stage plain and simple.

But Hennessy has a job on with promoting Witter and getting Witter on ITV is a master stroke - Witter needs to be at his gobby best in the after fight interviews - it will get the public starting to know his name - Hennessy then needs to keep Witter on ITV - then maybe just maybe!!!

Agreed, Witter can fight Hatton next year after Ricky has beat Floyd, hopefully by then Witter will be a name
